New Magnum Taper Fly Line by SA

Gear Reviews Anonymous writes "Scientific Anglers has just released a new sharkskin taper and called the fly line the "magnum taper". Ray Schmidt has casted the new fly line and offers this short review.

Scientific Anglers Sharkskin Magnum Taper fly lines. By Ray Schmidt Magnum Taper. The name says a lot, maybe all that can be said. I received my sample lines in today?s mail and I couldn?t wait to try them out. Just think, a Magnum fly line! I strung up my trusted 6wt rod and headed to our pond. The wind is blowing like hell today and it?s cold! I tied on a big hunk of yarn for the test and stripped off a bunch of line. This one felt and sounded the same in the guides as the Sharkskin Trout and Saltwater tapers. The big difference was how well this line delivered the yarn in the wind. I cast short and long and I am impressed. So, for those of us who didn?t like the fresh water delicate presentation of the Trout Taper, yippee; we have a new fly line! Here?s what Scientific Anglers says about this new product:
    • Super shootability- vastly reduced friction through the rod guides
    • Improved floatation- Micro-textured surface entraps air
    • Increased durability- longer life of the fly line
    • Powerful yet smooth taper design
    • Casts big and extremely big flies with ease
    • Excels in windy conditions
